Objective: (from the Spring 2004 grant for developing this website) “The Things They Carried”: [This module focuses on the first chapter of a novel, also called The Things They Carried.]  As a result of using the instructional web (module) for this fictional story of Vietnam soldiers, students will be able to express in an essay their appreciation of the story, their understanding of a theme of the story, and perhaps their perception of the effects of war on the individual.
